2021 NSAC Team Places First at Districts

Our very own National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team won districts! The GVSU team is in District 6, which includes Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. Next step: Semi-Finals. But, let’s break down this big win.

This year, the NSAC team operated completely online, which was a first. The excitement centered around the big client: Tinder. Throughout the course of the year they got to work on creating fun content and tactics for the client. Having a client like Tinder helped to keep them both creative and attentive.

In order to make it to the next round, teams must earn first place in their district.

Our NSAC teams have won first place for the last consecutive three years! The next step is the National Semi-Finals. The first place winners from each district then move on to the National Semi-Finals, which is going to be on May 6. Around 18 teams will be competing in the next round. The judges at this competition will be no joke. There will be representatives from Tinder, SnapChat and Spotify.

This year’s NSAC team is full of eager and passionate students. Maggie McEvilly, a senior on the team, said that team aspect was her favorite part of NSAC.

“My favorite part about NSAC is being challenged to create an out of the box campaign for such a well-known client,” she explained. “It was rewarding to be able to execute the campaign with such a great group of like-minded young professionals at Grand Valley.”

Watch this blog for updates about their performance in the National Semi-Finals, which is set for May 6.
